In a far away land, it was bedtime in the palace.

在一个遥远的大陆上，王宫中睡觉的时刻到了KING。

The queen had been out all day shopping for a new crown and was now very tired.

为了买一个新的王冠，王后在外面逛了一整天，现在累极了KING。

She even nodded off at the time of dessert and now had ice cream all over her face.

吃甜点时，她甚至打起盹来，现在她的整张脸上都沾满了奶油KING。

It was definitely time for bed. "Good night, dear" she said to the king.

绝对是时候去睡觉了KING。“晚安，亲爱的”她对国王说。

The king, on the other hand, was not even a bit tired.

然而这位国王却一点也不累KING。

He brushed his teeth, put on his night clothes and snuggled in the comfort of his royal bed.

他刷完牙，穿上睡衣，舒服地躺皇室大床上KING。

The king restlessly tossed and turned in his bed but the sleep never came.

这位国王不安地在床上翻来翻去，一点睡意也没有KING。

"It's no good", the king said after hours of trying to get some sleep.

“这可不行”，躺了几个小时都睡不着，国王开始着急了KING。

"I am just not sleepy. Maybe someone in the castle could help me with this."

“我根本不困KING。也许这座城堡里有人能够帮助我。”

So he climbed out of the bed and went downstairs.

所以他下了床，朝楼下走去KING。

At the bottom of the stairs, the king found the royal treasurer.

在楼梯上，国王遇上了皇室财务总管KING。

He was buried with bags of gold and stacks of coins and piles of precious jewels.

他快要被埋在一袋袋的金子、成堆的硬币和成串的珍贵珠宝中了KING。

To him the king complained about his sleeplessness.

国王向他抱怨自己睡不着觉KING。

The royal treasurer thought for a moment and then said, "I know just the thing that will help you."

这位财务总管想了一会，然后说道，“我恰好知道有一件东西能够帮你KING。”

He took the king to the royal treasure chamber and gave the king a yellow cloth.

他将国王带到皇室宝库中，给了他一件黄色的布KING。

The cloth was soft that the king was immediately very happy.

这块布如此柔软，国王一拿到它就非常开心KING。

He said, "what a lovely blanket. Can I cuddle it? I am sure I will be going to sleep in no time."

他说，“这块毯子多么可爱啊KING。我能盖着它睡吗？我保证有了它立刻就能睡着。”

The royal treasures looked at the king and told him that the cloth was not a blanket, but a polishing cloth.

财务总管盯着国王看了一会，告诉他这块布并不是毯子，而是一块清洁布KING。

"I always doze off while cleaning the royal treasure." He suggested that the king try it as well.

“每次我清洁这些皇室宝藏时就会打瞌睡，”他建议国王也来试试KING。

The king started to polish.

于是国王开始擦拭（宝藏）KING。

He polished and polished, till the diamonds glittered, the sapphires sparkled and the coins shone bright but sleep never came to the king.

他擦啊擦，直钻石闪闪发亮，蓝宝石光彩夺目，硬币能照出人影，但他还是一点也不困KING。

The royal treasurer thanked the king for finishing his work and went off to bed.

财务总管为国王替他完成了工作表示感谢，就去睡觉了KING。

The king's problem of sleeplessness was still unsolved.

但国王失眠的问题还是没有被解决KING。

"Oh, well perhaps a snack will help me go to sleep," the king thought hopefully.

“嗯，也许一块甜点能帮助我入睡，”国王乐观地想着KING。

When the king reached the kitchen he saw that the cook was busy making dough for fresh bread.

当他来到厨房，看到厨师正忙着揉面团，准备做新鲜的面包KING。

To the cook the king complained again, I can't sleep!

国王又向厨师抱怨起来KING，我睡不着！

"You have come to the right place!" the cook exclaimed.

“你真是来对地方了！”厨师激动地说道KING。

And told the king how kneading the dough tired the cook and made him sleepy.

他告诉国王揉面团是多么辛苦的差事，总让他累得想睡觉KING。

So the king decided he would make some dough.

于是国王决定开始揉面团KING。

Soon the flour was flying and the king was surrounded by a fog of flour.

很快，面粉飞得到处都是，国王被包围在面粉之中KING。

He pushed and pressed the dough. He worked very hard.

他拿着面团，又推又拉，干得非常卖力KING。

Soon the dough was done and the cook was off to sleep.

没过多久，面团就被揉好，厨师便回去睡觉了KING。

The king, however, was still sleepless.

然而国王依然一点也不困KING。

The flour got in the king's nose and he started sneezing.

面粉飞进了国王的鼻子，让他开始打喷嚏KING。

He went out to get some fresh air.

他走到外面去呼吸一些新鲜空气KING。

Outside, in the garden the king found the royal gardener hard at work.

在花园里，国王发现皇室花匠正在辛苦地工作KING。

"I can't sleep, " cried the king.

“我根本睡不着,”国王哭诉道KING。

The royal gardener gave the king a tiny pair of scissors and told the king that every blade of grass needed to be the same height.

花匠给了国王一把小剪刀，并告诉他每一片草叶需要被剪到相同的高度KING。

"it is a tiresome job. It usually puts me to sleep." He told the king.

“这是一份很辛苦的工作，做完它我通常都会睡得很好KING。”他对国王说。

The king knelt down started cutting the grass.

于是国王就跪下来来修剪草坪KING。

He measured each blade of grass with his fingers and cut them, making sure they were all of the same size.

他用自己的手指测量每一根草的长度，然后剪掉多余的部分，保证它们都大小相同KING。

The queen had gotten out of bed, and she was surprised to see the king kneeling in the garden.

王后起床了，她惊讶地发现国王正跪在花园里KING。

"Are you alright, dear?" she asked him.

“你还好吗，亲爱的？”她问国王KING。

"I can't sleep!?" the king told the queen, "and no one can help".

“我睡不着！？”国王开始向王后诉苦，“而且根本没人能帮我”KING。

The queen took the king inside and gave him a cup of milk.

王后把国王带进来，给了他一杯牛奶KING。

After sipping the milk, the king lay down in his royal bed.

喝了几口牛奶，国王躺在了皇家大床上KING。

The queen was about to read a bedtime story to the king when she heard him snoring.

王后正准备为他读睡前故事，却听到国王已经开始打呼噜了KING。

Finally, the sleepless king was finally asleep.

最后，失眠的国王终于睡着了KING。
